Talasari taluka is a tribal dominated taluka out of the 8 talukas of Palghar district. The taluka is situated on the border of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and the state of Gujarat. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway No. 8 passes through the central part of the taluka. The geographical area of the taluka is 26711 hectares. Talasari taluka has 5 electoral divisions (groups) of the Zilla Parishad, including Uplat, Sutrakar, Dongari, Zhai, Udhwa, groups. There are 10 electoral divisions of the Panchayat Samiti, including Udhwa, Uplat, Kochai, Sutrakar, Jhari, Dongari, Girgaon, Zhai, Vasa and Vadavali, groups. Warli, Dhodi, Konkani, Katkari, tribes are mainly found in the taluka. The Warli community has the largest population. Dhodi, Warli, Konkani, and Konkani languages are spoken in this Talasari taluka. In this, Dawar, Warli, and Zhai groups are mainly spoken. Warli paintings are popular and prevalent in the taluka. The main occupation of the taluka is agriculture. Rice is the main crop and this crop is dependent on rainfall. The average rainfall here is 28.99 mm. Also, mainly Shindi trees are planted on a large scale in the fields. For non-agricultural employment, most of the people in Talasari taluka go to Maharashtra Industrial Development Zone-Acchad and Gujarat Industrial Development Zone Umbergaon as well as the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, which borders the eastern border.
