Talasari taluka is a tribal dominated taluka out of the 8 talukas of Palghar district with a majority (90.73) percent tribal population. The taluka is situated on the border of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and the state of Gujarat. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway No. 8 passes through the central part of the taluka. According to the 2011 census, the taluka has a total population of 154818. Out of which 76417 are males and 78401 are females. There are two revenue mandals in the taluka namely Jhari and Talasari, and there are a total of 13 Talathi Sajas.
The geographical area of the taluka is 26711 hectares. Talasari Nagar Panchayat is functioning as the taluka headquarters in the taluka and there are 21 Gram Panchayats, 41 Revenue Villages and 214 Pades. Also, there are a total of 5 groups of District Council and 10 groups of Panchayat Samiti.
Warli, Dhodia, Konkani, Katkari, tribes are mainly found in the taluka, of which the Warli community has the largest population. Dhodia, Warli, Konkani languages are spoken in this Talasari taluka.
