Objectives and Mission

The main objectives and functions of the Panchayat Samiti are as follows:

Objectives:

  • Development of Rural Areas:
    The main objective of the Panchayat Samiti is to achieve overall development of rural areas.
  • Guidance to Gram Panchayats:
    The Panchayat Samiti guides the Gram Panchayats and assists them in their work.
  • Implementation of schemes:
    Effective implementation of government schemes.
  • Public Participation:
    Increasing active public participation in development plans.
  • Coordination :
    The Panchayat Samiti works to coordinate between the Gram Panchayat and the Zilla Parishad. 

Tasks :

  • Implementing agricultural and rural development schemes:
    Helping farmers, providing irrigation facilities, and implementing schemes for rural development.
  • Supervision of Gram Panchayats:
    Supervising the functioning of Gram Panchayats, checking their budgets, and providing necessary guidance.
  • Tax collection:
    Collection of taxes imposed by the government.
  • Submission of reports:
    Submission of the activities of the Gram Panchayat, implementation of schemes and other information to the government.
