The history of Talasari taluka dates back to the formation of Palghar district, which was earlier a part of Thane district. On 1 August 2014, a new district, Palghar, was formed by separating the talukas of Mokhada, Jawhar, Talasari, Vikramgad, Wada, Dahanu, Palghar and Vasai from Thane district. Talasari taluka is predominantly tribal and is famous for its Warli tribal culture and Warli painting.

Palghar district was formed on 1 August 2014. With the creation of this new district, Talasari taluka came out of the protection of the erstwhile Thane district. - Tribal Heritage:
Talasari is a tribal dominated taluka and the region has a rich heritage of Warli tribal culture. The region is famous for Warli painting.
Geographical location
- Talasari taluka is located on the border of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and the state of Gujarat.
- Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway No. 8 passes through the central part of the taluka.
Current status
- Talasari taluka is one of the 8 talukas of Palghar district.
- It is mentioned in the introduction to Palghar district that this taluka is located in a very remote mountainous region.
